The brand new World Book Day App will feature an exclusive short story by Malorie Blackman, as well as stories from other authors.

CALLUM
Callum
In a hostile alternative society, the pale-skinned noughts are treated as inferiors by the ruling dark-skinned Crosses. Callum’s a nought. Sephy’s a Cross. In their world, they simply don’t fit – it’s as clear as black and white. But their childhood friendship has grown into intense, burning love. They have to find a way to be together. Then Sephy’s kidnapped, and Callum’s faced with a choice– his love for Sephy or his loyalty to his brother. Once that choice is made, there can be no looking back.An explosive and passionate short story, set during the timeline of Malorie Blackman’s original dystopian bestseller, Noughts and Crosses.

The World Book Day App is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and is absolutely FREE! Download now from the App store. There will also be a World Book Day App author event between 4.30-5.30pm on 1st March at the Apple Store, Covent Garden, featuring Malorie Blackman in conversation.

Hi Malorie!
Hi I am Molly and i am 11 years old.
You are my favorite author and i had never heard of you and then my English teacher Mrs.Thomas reccomended Noughts and Crosses and i must say it was the best book i have EVER read! Christmas 2011 I got a Kindle and my mom let ME pay for Knife Edge myself! I was so happy! I loved the end of Noughts and Crosses when Callum drops. I have reccomended this book to all my friends and then they all started reading it and have been telling me how much they enjoyed your book. Love Molly xxxx

Wow. I just finished reading Noughts & Crosses and, i must say, i nearly ended up in tears. That was a really heart-felt book and the relationship between Sephy and Callum can relate to mine and my boyfriends too atm. We’re so drifted apart, just like Sephy and Callum was. It hurts. Anyways, i would like to say, thankyou for inspiring me to start writing books of my own and you are truly blessed to write such a book like that. God bless you.

Hi malorie! I love the noughts and crosses series. I finished reading it last year. Where does ‘Callum’ fit into the series?…..I’m 3/4 of the way through ‘boys don’t cry’ and I’m loving it, can’t wait for the outcome at the end! Are you doing any signings soon? Thank you so much for writing outstanding books. Aarti Bhogaita, 14

I wish I had known about this, I’m not far from London and would have been there in a heartbeat. grr.
I’m trying to download ‘Callum’ on my ipod touch now. The screen is tiny to read on, but for some of Malorie Blackman’s writing it is definitely worth it!!!
Hope it works. :D

Hi Malorie!
Noughts & Crosses is a book that made me question reality a lot along with the question why is it that during the times of slavery and other bad things that the black people were the inferiors not superior? … After 4 years it remains my favorite book ever and i read it every year because I understand it more each year because I obviously become more mature in many ways. It’s a very touching book and I honestly feel that it’s had a major big contribution on who I am. I’ve now started writing my own book because i decided that i wanted to write something as powerful and emotional as the Noughts & Crosses series.
So thanks for that… and thanks for keeping it linked to reality otherwise i never would have been able to read it.
-Halo :D
PS. Is the Callum app only for apple things or can i get it in another format?

Hi Malorie :D
Can i first of all just say that you are my favourite author and the Noughts and Crosses saga is the best in the world!!!!
i have spent two years indulged in these beautiful books and i have become rather attached to Callum.

I really wish that Callum did not die because yes i know i sound silly but i really love Callum and Sephy. Can you please write a story about Callum not dying but instead kamal dying which leads to Callum and Persephone running away together and Callie Rose having both her parents?

Thank you
:) x

Just read Callum, can this be bought in book form? I love the original series. Noughts and crosses still is the best book I’ve ever read.

I really like the whole series. I thought Malories wouldn’t bring out any more books which i was upset about but this proves Malorie will hopefully bring out more books. If you are reading this Malorie i really hope that this book will not be the last one because the series ould go on forever and no one will get bored of it. I really hope will all my heart that this book will not be the last.

I heard your play on radio 4 this afternoon and it completely stopped me in my tracks as I found myself caring so much about the characters, as well as being gripped by the story. Afterwards went on to radio 4 site to find out more, and was linked to your site. I am a 56 year old journalist, not your audience at all but I just wanted to say I love your writing and the play will remain with me for a long time to come. I also do some tutoring and will telling all my students to read your work

I love Noughts and crosses and LOVE the characters, including Callum.I love Sephy and Callum’s relationship and how through discrimination they’ve always been together, even through death(I still cannot believe Callum’s death).
