What if YOU were left holding the baby?Boys

You’re waiting for the postman – he’s bringing your A level results. University, a career as a journalist – a glittering future lies ahead. But when the doorbell rings it’s your old girlfriend; and she’s carrying a baby. You’re fine to look after it, for an hour or two, while she does some shopping. Then she doesn’t come back and your future suddenly looks very different…

Wow this book was EPIC- I saw it on the self in WHSmith and read the first few pages- I could just not put it down!! After 20 minutes my mum reminded me to buy it LOL!! This is such a thought-provoking book, I would love a sequel, please, Malorie xx This was my first Malorie Blackman book and is now a favourite of mine!!

Said on January 9th, 2012 at 5:17 pm

Your…. books… are… AMAZING! I hate to see you haven’t made a 5th nought’s and crosses book, because it ends so weirdly with Tobey and Callie, I want to see more!

Said on December 30th, 2011 at 5:30 pm

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I was never a fan of reading & I’ve always preferred to watch movies. I saw this book in Waterstones, saw the front cover & i knew i HAD to buy this book! I was always a fan of Family drama/Real life books. I’ve never read a book about a boy who’s left with a baby so again i knew i had to read it. I read the book in August & since then I’ve been repeatedly reading it over again! This book made me cry SO much and it made me laugh & smile. Even thinking about how brilliant it is now makes me go all teary! I LOVE the fact that there’s a gay brother in the book because it shows how people will react to gay people.
This is my first & only Malorie Blackman book I’ve read but i promise this wont be the last!
I DEFINITIVELY would encourage any teenager to go and buy this book or borrow it from a local library!

I enjoyed the first book: noughts and crosses, but I felt that it got very tired after the second book, the first book should have been left on its own as it had some suspense and didn’t need anything else to follow it up.

Epic book. Great storyline. Heartfelt issues. Wow. Just amazing.

Said on October 6th, 2011 at 5:03 pm

This was one of the best books I have ever read. I finished it last night, and it made me consider so many issues that I couldn’t stop thinking about it all day, and am still concerned about the issues in it as I write this. I am sure that if there was a sequel, it would really sell well. The main thing that really hit me was that I didn’t realize that anyone, gay or straight, could go through something like this. Thank you for a great insight into the real world. Someone should make a movie out of this!

This book is a good way of seeing life though others lifes when times are bad, and is so well written that you bond with the characters in a way that allows you to relate to them. I would recommed this book to anyone. If there were a sequel I garentee that people will buy it. The way you left the story leaving us all wondering was genius. I hope to be seeing a sequel soon!

Boys Don’t cry was amazing! I read it faster than I’ve read any other book before! It really shows the issues and problems single parents and gays and lesbians have to go through and also how we’ve all got to have a back-up plan! It really made me think and stuck in my mind long after I read it. I do love your books! Please write a sequel for this!!!

Hiya,

I loved Boys Don’t Cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cried when Adam got beaten up as it was so sad. :( I think your plot lines are amazing but it is really the message you try to get across (and succeed to) are really important. Please don’t wrote a sequel because if I read Naughts and Crosses I have to read the whole series, so I would like a book of yours that can read without having to read another few books after it but that’s only because they are soooooooooooooo good :)

I only recently read this book, and LOVED it. The characters were perfect and the storyline flowed so well. I’m seriously hoping you are going to be making a sequel because it just felt there was so much unanswered! Will Melanie come back? What will happen to Emma? How will Adam recover, if he will, and will he find someone WAY better than Josh? What will be Josh’s sentence? Will Dante find someone? SO many questions that I hope will be answered in the long run ;)

Hiaaa (: well to start off, I was in my local Waterstones and I spotted this book, I’ve read quite a few of your books and loved them so of course as soon as I saw it stood there in hardback I pulled me in and I couldn’t resist being naughty and buying it with what is meant to be saving up for Christmas presents. As soon as I got settled on the bus home i plunged straight into it, even reading it as I walked from the bus stop to my house. I timed myself and it took me 7 hours in total, I absolutely loved it! i recommend this to anyone and everyone :) Much love and praise to you, Malorie, your books are amazing ♥

I have just finished reading Boys Don’t Cry and i thought it was brilliant. I was already a big fan of your books( Noughts and Crosses books, Pig Heart Boy, Thief. Tell Me No Lies and Dead Gorgeous) And every time i see a book in a book store that i have not read i always buy it. I also got my mum into your books and she can’t wait to read Boys Don’t Cry after hearing me go on about how good it is.

Hi, I read Noughts and Crosses when I was about 10 or 11 and I love it! I think the first one is still definitely my favourite, and I’ve read them so many times I’ve lost count. Will there be any more in the series? I know it’s mostly about Tobey and Callie Rose now, not Callum (obviously) or Sephy but the storylines are still just as great. :) :D :)

Said on October 31st, 2010 at 3:43 pm

Hey Malorie (: I first read your Noughts and Crosses series when I was about 10, and I’ve read them again about three times since then, and they are STILL my favourite books. They are so inspirational, I have a feeling no other book I’ll read would ever be as awesome, and I’m not using the word lightly (: My favourite line is Jude; “It’s always raining.. especially at night when I’m all alone and look up.. and theres not a cloud in sky..”

As soon as Boys Dont Cry comes to my local library, I’m going to grab it and wont put it down for days :D

Good luck with everything, Amy ♥x
